IEEE Std 802.3ae for 10 Gbit/s Ethernet (10 GbE) has been formally approved by IEEE on July 22,2002.This paper gave a brief introduction to the hierarchy of the standard for 10 GbE,with focus on the physical layer of 10 GbE.
