Calmodulin (CaM) antagonist trifluoperizine (TFP) and Ca~(2+) channel blocker verapamil (VER) both inhibited aforesaid effects induced by ethylene to a certain extent and this showed that Ca~(2+) and CaM took part in the effects of exogenous ethylene.
